Frequently Asked Questions

1. I KNOW I NEED A PHYSICAL FORM COMPLETED BY OUR
DOCTOR, IS THAT IT?

A valid birth certificate or a passport (NOT A PHOTOCOPY) must be
provided for all first time players and cheerleaders to enable us to certify
the team. The name on the birth document must match the participant's
name. We cannot accept hospital birth certificates.

2. WHEN DO PRACTICES BEGIN?

Practice begins Monday, August 1st at 6:00 p.m. and is 2 hours per day,
5 or 6 days a week for 6 weeks. Check with the Cheer Director for the
cheer leading start date. Starting September 5, 2005, our football
practices are every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 6:00 p.m.
Until 8:00 p.m.

3. WHEN ARE THE GAMES?

A maximum of 6 controlled inter-squad pre-season football scrimmages
may be held during August/ September, to be scheduled by your coach.
One of the scrimmages will be a game condition scrimmage. The teams
play 10 games, 7 will be scheduled by the VYC starting in mid September,
the other 3 will be either playoffs or consolation games, and will be
scheduled after the regular season ends.

4. WHAT HAPPENS IF WE MAKE THE PLAYOFFS?

Playoffs and cheer competition are on Sunday, football at the end of the
season, cheer at the end of October.

5. I THINK MY SON IS A RECEIVER, HE'S GOT GOOD HANDS AND
SOME SPEED, BUT THE COACH HAS HIM PLAYING CENTER,
WHAT'S UP WITH THAT?

The coaches try out each player for every position. They try their hardest
to get the 11 best athletes on the field at positions which will help the
TEAM. Did the coach time your son's speed? Did he race your son
against other kids? Was he able to adjust to poorly thrown balls and still
make the catch? How did your son do in the agility drills? Remember, the
coaches are volunteers. The Head Coaches have been working on what
they're going to do during the season since the end of last season.

7.  WHAT SHOULD MY CHILD WEAR ON THE FIRST DAY OF
PRACTICE?

T-shirt, shorts, cleats, mouthpiece and cup.  Although there is no tackling
until we issue pads, they have to get used to running wearing a cup.  A lot
of kids have a problem with that and it takes a while to get used to it.  He
also has to get accustomed to wearing the mouthpiece.  Buy more than
one mouthpiece.  Most kids treat them like bubble gum and chew them up.

8.  DOES THE CLUB PROVIDE REFRESHMENTS DURING
PRACTICE?

The club doesn't provide refreshments during practices but we do provide
water or you can bring your own sports drinks  to stay hydrated.

9.  WHAT DIVISION CAN MY CHILD PLAY?

Football players in the Valley Youth Conference (VYC) are put into 7
divisions by age and weight: Junior Clinic, Senior Clinic, Gremlin, Tiny
Mite, Mity Might, Peewee and Midget.  Click Program on the menu to see
where your child fits.
